How we calculate

Every calculator applies the tax, social-security, pension and labour rules in force in each country, taken from official sources: tax authorities, social-security institutions, statistics offices and the law. Each country’s rules and sources are listed at the bottom of its tabs.

Results are checked against official calculators and worked examples; see Accuracy checks. Amounts are estimates for typical cases, and special situations may differ.
