Notice periods in Czechia 2026
The notice an employer must give often grows with the years you have worked for them. The calculator above works out your notice period from your hire date and last day, together with severance and final pay.
The rules in brief
- Notice and severance: The notice period is at least 2 months for both sides. On dismissal or agreement for organisational reasons, severance pay is one month’s average earnings with under 1 year of service, two months with 1–2 years and three months with 2 years or more (more by collective agreement). Severance is taxed but free of insurance.
The legal notice is the same whatever the length of service: 2 months. (minimum notice period (Labour Code § 51))
These are the legal minimums. A contract or collective agreement can give longer notice.
