Annual leave and public holidays in Hong Kong 2026
How many paid days off you get in Hong Kong depends on the legal minimum, your contract and the public holidays that fall on working days. The calculator above counts them for your own case. Below you will find the legal minimum, the 2026 public holidays and the family leave rules.
Your annual leave
The legal minimum in Hong Kong is 7 working days a year on a five-day week. In 2026, 13 public holidays fall on working days (national, on working days). In the example (10 days of leave in the contract) that makes 23 paid days off in all.
After 12 months of service employees get 7 days of paid annual leave, rising by 1 day a year to 14 days after 9 years, plus the statutory holidays (15 in 2026, with Easter Monday added). A statutory holiday on a rest day is replaced by the next day. Lunar holidays are shown for the years the Labour Department has published.
