Notice periods in Hungary 2026
The notice an employer must give often grows with the years you have worked for them. The calculator above works out your notice period from your hire date and last day, together with severance and final pay.
The rules in brief
- Notice and severance: Notice is 30 days plus 5 days after 3 years, 15 after 5, 20 after 8, 25 after 10, 30 after 15, 40 after 18 and 60 after 20 years; at least half of it is free from work with pay. Severance is 1 month after 3 years, 2 after 5, 3 after 10, 4 after 15, 5 after 20 and 6 after 25 years, with up to 3 months more within 5 years of pension age.
