Notice periods in Lithuania 2026
The notice an employer must give often grows with the years you have worked for them. The calculator above works out your notice period from your hire date and last day, together with severance and final pay.
The rules in brief
- Notice and severance: When the employer dismisses you without your fault the notice is 1 month (2 months if you are less than 5 years from pension age or raise young children). Severance is 2 average monthly wages, or half a month under 1 year of service; with 5, 10 or 20 years the Guarantee Fund adds a long-service benefit of 1, 2 or 3 months.
The legal notice is the same whatever the length of service: 1 month (2 months shortly before pension or with young children). (Labour Code art. 57)
These are the legal minimums. A contract or collective agreement can give longer notice.
