Notice periods in Poland 2026
The notice an employer must give often grows with the years you have worked for them. The calculator above works out your notice period from your hire date and last day, together with severance and final pay.
The rules in brief
- Notice and severance: Notice for an open-ended contract is 2 weeks under 6 months of service, 1 month under 3 years and 3 months after that, for both sides. When an employer with 20 or more staff dismisses you for reasons not concerning you, severance (odprawa) is 1 month’s pay under 2 years, 2 months for 2–8 years and 3 months after 8 years, capped at 15 minimum wages (PLN 72,090). Severance is taxed but free of ZUS.
