AFAP in Uruguay 2026: what a contribution really costs

Paying into a private or workplace pension in Uruguay usually lowers your tax and sometimes your social-security contributions, so each unit you put in costs you less than it adds to the plan. The calculator above works this out for your salary. Below you will find this year’s effect on your pay, the tax rules and how the plan compares with saving the money yourself.

This year: salary without and with the plan

        Take-home / year719,971674,471
        Employer contribution–+0
Into the plan (you + employer)–45,500
        Total received / year (take-home + plan)719,971719,971

In the example, your net pay is UYU 51,882.40 a month with the plan: UYU 3,500.00 less than without it (UYU 55,382.40) · tax & contributions saved cover 0.0%. In this case contributions bring no tax saving on your pay; any advantage comes from the support described under the tax treatment below. The balance could reach UYU 1,382,001 (you UYU 910,000 · employer UYU 0 · return UYU 472,001); at payout that is about UYU 1,382,001 net (after 0.0% tax & charges).
